Game jam 2 is over. We finished a game! Decent of Greed is a story-based walking simulator where you play as an old man in a cave. Your mental state fades as your past is revealed through hallucinations. Despite the plentiful bugs and lack of mechanical clarity, I'm proud of the game. It's biggest strength is the atmosphere; most players get pretty unnerved. As I said last week, this team is super functional. We all contributed ideas to the vision. I appreciate how we all respect each other enough to candidly speak our minds. No one's offended when their work or ideas are critiqued, because we all know we have the best interest of the project at heart. During our work time, we were usually on a voice chat, hanging out, "vibing". It turns out I gelled with the group so well that they unanimously decided to have me work on their main game, Techno Towers! Very exited. A bit of background: the last jam, this team (minus myself and a couple others) made a tower defense game called Techno Towers. Not only was it playable, it was fun. After the jam, a few projects were shut down, so the members of the jam team decided to reassemble to improve TT. One of my projects was shut down too, and TT looked like it would be the only game finished by the end of the year, so I asked if I could join. Mr. Compton had also realized that this game would actually be finished, so he provided them with a bunch of publisher relations stuff. They also decided on a "hiring policy" that basically said that they wouldn't add anyone to the team. Understandable, as they already had a capable group. So they turned me down. But, when jam 2 was announced, they reached back out to me. I joined the team, we got along well, my abilities impressed them, and after the jam, they unanimously decided they wanted me on the team. I obliged; I want to be on a game that gets published and continue working with them. We've gelled so well, in fact that we plan to polish Descent of Greed later, and do jams during the summer. We've started calling ourselves "studio GOMP". We have a logo and a website and everything very cool.
I got to work for TT. I've made two towers already. I'm having fun. Wow that's a long post.

I made this render for the GOMP website. I like it a bunch.
